Time to Shine!!!! ✨
Alohaaaaa,
We had a pdetty fire week filled with a split, boat rides and a lot of biking in-between. We got to go to Tahiti for zone conference and we also saw many little miracles every day.
Highlights:
- Had the opportunity to do a little exchange with Elder Miller another missionary also from Oahu. We started the exchange Monday evening and that same evening we had a lesson and then a canceled dinner appointment so we ended up stopping at this other place for food. We had a packed day filled with many lessons and we ended up doing so much biking.
- The water guy came and dropped off some water as soon as we finished the last drop. It was a miracle because normally he comes every two weeks but this past time he didn't come for an entire month.
- We had an amazing lessons with one of our friends. We started talking about the word of wisdom and why we don't drink or do other things as members and he was ready to change. He had also been reading in the book of mormon and has been using the church's application to read talks and the scriptures. He is absolutely golden and is also helping to bring back his girlfriend who's a member but a little bit inactive.
- We went to a members house for a birthday party and we ended up eating so much food. A highlight was when they put two huge pieces of cake on a plate and then handed it over to me. I proceeded to graciously hand it over to Elder Nally so he could have the first plate and then asked them to not serve me to huge pieces because one was more than enough. Elder Nally took it like a champ but was only able to finish one of the slices and ended up taking the second slice home.
- Had a lesson with one of our friends Hubbert and the member that came with us testified so strongly. He then proceeded to invite our friend to pray and think about baptism.
- Took a boat ride over to Tahiti for our zone conference. Our mission president talked about a bunch of things but one thing that really stood out to me was the fact that he told missionaries that we don't just speak French and Tahitian in our mission but we also speak English as well. He had native french speakers give talks in either English or Tahitian and a few of them chose English which was cool to hear
- Our ward had a little activity for mothers day (which was this past Sunday in French Polynesia). There were a whole bunch of dances and things that were shared, they even ended up playing some fun intermission games.
- We pulled up to one of our lessons this past Sunday and the two little girls we started teaching where clapping with joy and couldn't stop waving at us. It was so cute to see two people so eager to learn about the gospel. When we asked them if they had been reading and praying they both said yes which was a huge shock. They have been progressing so fast in such a short time and I know that they'll be getting baptized pretty soon.
Lowlights:
- We were supposed to have a packed Saturday and then 4 of our lessons decided to either cancel or reschedule their lesson so we ended up only having one scheduled lesson which allowed us to visit some members and do some contacting. The highlight of that one lesson we did end up having was the fact that they also brought a friend along with them and the friend was interested in hearing our message. That friend was also from the Marquesis so we ended up talking a little bit about the different Marquesian things we both like
Spiritual Thought:
This past week as I was reading in the Book of Mormon a few scriptures in Mosiah 24 stood out to me. These three verses (13-15) talk about how the Lord can make our burdens light. We ended up sharing this scripture with so many people this past week.
13 And it came to pass that the voice of the Lord came to them in their afflictions, saying: Lift up your heads and be of good comfort, for I know of the covenant which ye have made unto me; and I will covenant with my people and deliver them out of bondage.
14 And I will also ease the burdens which are put upon your shoulders, that even you cannot feel them upon your backs, even while you are in bondage; and this will I do that ye may stand as witnesses for me hereafter, and that ye may know of a surety that I, the Lord God, do visit my people in their afflictions.
15 And now it came to pass that the burdens which were laid upon Alma and his brethren were made light; yea, the Lord did strengthen them that they could bear up their burdens with ease, and they did submit cheerfully and with patience to all the will of the Lord.
