KFC in Tahiti?!?!
Yes, I am talking about good old Kentucky Fried Chicken. One of friends just got baptized and one of her sons flies for Air Tahiti Nui and brought back KFC because another Mami at the luncheon really loves KFC. We showed up and they started bringing out the food and I thought I was dreaming for a second. Like there's no way that's actually KFC, the best part was just seeing how excited the Mami was about it. Anyways that was a nice little highlight from the other day. Also just realized I didn't get a picture of it, sorry bout it, but was good. :)
Highlights:
- Elder Brown made me some special drink for my throat but he didn't have the actual ingredients to make it so he improvised and mixed Water, Hot sauce, Salt, and Honey. He heated that bad boy up and it started frothing and smelt like warm vinegar. It didn't taste the best but wasn't too bad. It also kinda looked like beer.- We got Facebook back thanks to the amazing work of the Elders in The Office.
- Went to the Temple for a session and it was absolutely amazing, then we attended a sealing in the temple and it was my and my companions first time and this one guy just kept cracking jokes and made me think of my Tutupops.
- Had a few great lessons this past week and saw our friends progress a lot.
- Finally got back into contact with one of our friends, Richard. His girlfriend is a member and actually started investigating the church because of the joy that he saw and the peace he saw in the life of one of his co-workers and wanted to see if he could find that same feeling in his life.
- One of friends just got back from the hospital. He is paralyzed from the waist down but is still insanely strong because he always does dips in his wheel chair. He came back from the hospital and his wife said that when they asked what religion he was he said "Mormon" which is huge because everything he's gone to the hospital he has always answered the question with "Protestant". The past three years Elders have invited him to church but he has never gone. Me and my companion agreed that a step like that is just a little too big for him. He doesn't really know how to read and would never read the Book of Mormon in lessons but this past lesson he started reading, so we invited him to read a short chapter with his wife. We're thinking that it's small steps like these that will help him and it's also a good reminder for us to not run faster than we have the strength to do so.
- Got a new washer dropped off at our place because our old one was so old and dirty it started leaving black lines on all of our white shirts.
- Used some of the Taco Bell hot sauce we have on these goat cheese burritos and they just took it up to another notch.
Lowlights:
- Did some more reconnecting of old references and found out our number has been blocked. Not too happy about that but ça va.
- Ate some fafaru last Monday which wasn't that bad until more throat started getting scratchy and I ended up loosing my voice for a couple days. But got it back yesterday (Sunday afternoon)
Spiritual Thought:
In Mattew 6:21 it reads, "For where your treasure is, your heart be also".
I read a talk earlier this week and the speaker talked about how he went on a trip with three other guys who were billionaires. They started talking about multi millionaire dollar business deals like they were nothing. They kept sharing about all the worldly things that they had acquired and at the end one of the guys said "I don't know if there is a life after this life... Will all of the things I have even matter in the end?". Three of these men only cared about the things of this world they didn't care about Loving their families or being loved by others. When the speaker returned to his home he told his wife, "We might not rich in their terms, but one thing I do know is that we are more rich then all of them and have more happiness and blessing in this life for we have our faith, family, and God."
Thought that was pretty cool and a nice reminder to not get so caught up in the chase for if you get caught up in the chase, you're gonna end up working your entire life away and never really find true happiness always filling voids in your life with things that bring you temporal happiness.
