Just like that another transfer (or six weeks) has passed by here in Outumaoro and we've honestly been seeing so many miracles that I really hope I don't leave. This week was a little weird because we started off by going into papeete on three different occasions for my companion to see the doctor. Long story short they ended up testing his blood a few times and told us he got dengue fever. Everything that followed was crazy though. The equivalent of the tahitian center for disease control started contacting us like crazy getting our positions and whereabouts and they even sent a team to fumigate our apartment. They even came back and sprayed our complex and surrounding area with this big machine.


Highlights: 

- We found 8 new friends this past week and 4 of them are siblings/cousins that are from an inactive family. The children are all super interested and we've already done two lessons for them and they keep asking us to come back. The kids are literally golden and it is such a nice change from teaching older people. 







- Went on a split with Elder Stoddard and we had an amazing time filled with a lot of lessons. For the most part we were able to find members to come with us, but we did have to do a lesson in Tahitian without a member. The lesson went smoothly and we just talked about the Book of Mormon and how it could help the guy and his family recieve more direction in their lives. We found a few new friends in their sector as well as ate a whole bunch of amazing food. We even saw some of their friends that they don't really teach anymore but they still recognized me after two months, low-key crazy and still sad that I could remember their faces but not their names.


- We had a great last district council where everyone made food and we all ate together. The district went crazy and we had all sorts of things from Spam Musubis, to Lasagna, Cheesecake, and Rolls with Texas Roadhouse honey butter.


- We also played some ultimate as well as soccer with the district this past week. Super fun especially when we were able to get other missionaries who weren't in our district to also come and play with us.






Thought:

This past week I studied a whole lot about humility and charity and even though I've already shared this scripture before I wanted to share it again because of the power that comes from it every time I read it. 


In moroni 7:45 it says, "And charity suffereth long, and is kind, and envieth not, and is not puffed up, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil, and rejoiceth not in iniquity but rejoiceth in the truth, beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things."


Charity is more than just an act of service or something that we do, rather charity is a condition or a state of being. One that we are able to acquire after we continually choose to do things that are right for the right reasons.

Yes, I am talking about good old Kentucky Fried Chicken. One of friends just got baptized and one of her sons flies for Air Tahiti Nui and brought back KFC because another Mami at the luncheon really loves KFC. We showed up and they started bringing out the food and I thought I was dreaming for a second. Like there's no way that's actually KFC, the best part was just seeing how excited the Mami was about it. Anyways that was a nice little highlight from the other day. Also just realized I didn't get a picture of it, sorry bout it, but was good. :) Highlights: - Elder Brown made me some special drink for my throat but he didn't have the actual ingredients to make it so he improvised and mixed Water, Hot sauce, Salt, and Honey. He heated that bad boy up and it started frothing and smelt like warm vinegar. It didn't taste the best but wasn't too bad. Te mau haamaitai a te atua!!! The blessings from God!!!

Alohaaaaaa ko'u 'ohana, This past week was absolutely magical. First off, we just had general conference and they announced so many new temples. One of them is over on Raiatea and another one is going to be in Honolulu, Hawaii!!! Like what a great blessing that is for people all over the pacific and especially my beloved Polynesians that are scattered across the various islands in the sea.  Highlights: - Went on a split with Elder Christensen and it was pretty fire. We biked back from the port to our house and the poor guy was sweating so much. We had a pretty good time filled with lessons, contacting and following the spirit. The man even drank half a vaimato 5 gallon jug when we were together. Pretty impressive if you ask me. - Elder Tingey and I were so hyped after our split we decided to go contacting. We entered a neighborhood at around 10am and didn't leave till it was almost 6pm. We both thought it was only going to take 2 maybe three hours max but we were so wrong. ...

After serving the people of French Polynesia Elder Ellis returned home to Hawaii on Wednesday, July 10, 2024. He was honorably release that at 5pm and then went to the beach with his family.  Mahalo for all your support... For sacrament meeting at 11am in which Kala Ellis will be speaking and sharing about his mission experiences.
