Pray for Rain π§ ππΌ π
Alohaaaaa kakou!!!!!
This past week has been so exciting!!! We started off the week by going to the temple which was a nice little spiritual recharge. We also got to see a whole bunch of missionaries which was really nice. Other than that we had a few lessons and I went around saying goodbye to people before I left for Hao this past Thursday. After sitting on a little airplane for 6 hours (because of stops to other atolls) I made it to Hao and it feels like I've traveled back in time. Life is cool, the people are so happy and even though they might be far away, they have so much Aloha. Oh , and my companion is another Elder also from Hawaii, Elder Masaniai who grew up in Laie and went to Kahuku! \m/
Highlights:
- Spent a vast majority of our day on Tuesday saying goodbye to people. We also got to eat with the Tehaavi family one last time. They made an entire feast and we had Pizza, steak and fries, Poison Cry, and Salad with some desert. We also got Transfer calls that night and found out I'll be spending these last six weeks on Hao! Life is cool and everyone is amazing! I wouldn't want it any other way.
- Spent Wednesday saying goodbye to more ward members and ended off the day by catching the ferry over to Tahiti with Elder Green and Rodriguez. Spent the night with Elder Spencer and Elder Dennis and we had an amazing dinner with one of Elder Spencers moms over here in Tahiti.
- Thursday was spent at the airport then in the airplane for awhile before finally arriving. After that I kinda settled in and we had the oppurtunity to go around and get to know the members. That evening we ate with the branch presidents family and we proposed the idea of doing a little kanikapila and him and his family was for it and we even did a little kanikapila jam mesh with them before we left singing tahitian, Hawaiian, and marquesian songs. It was sick!!!
- Friday we started off by going for a little run! Elder Masaniai said it was a new transfer and that means we gotta try new things including running. Funny thing was we forgot to stretch beforehand so our legs were both sore afterwards. We spent a good portion of our day saying hello to more members in the community, with a few lessons sprinkled in every here and there. We also stopped by a little cultural celebration they had at the middle school because the entire island pretty much shutdown for it. They sang songs from all over Polynesian including Rapa Nui, Aotearoa, Hawaii, and Puamotuian.
- The Hae Hawaii (Hawaiian Flag) got put up in our house!!!! Oh and our house is super small now. But we did a bit of cleaning and rearranging so now it feels a little bit more bigger and less small.
- Saturday was filled with more lessons and visiting people. Sadly a bunch of people canceled so we didn't have the opportunity to really get to know them :( But we were able to get other work done
-Church is great over here and all the different religions start at the same time and are pretty close so you can hear everyone else singing.
- Did our weekly planning at this pretty cool spot on the island that had a catholic statue and we ended up taking a couple pictures at the same time
- Oh and I got to see Aurelien one of our recent converts from Nuku Hiva when we went to the temple
Lowlights:
- Said goodbye to Moorea! The people and the friends there who have been my family since January. It was bittersweet, I was excited to see a new place but sad because I got really close with the members there. Cool thing is Elder Masaniai and I served in the same areas like Moorea and the Nuku Hiva, just not at the same time and now we're finally together.
-Pray for Rain!!!! We take showers, wash our clothes, and was our dishes with water that was caught during rainstorms. The only problem is that it hasn't rained in a fat minute so our supply of water is continually dropping and nothing is refilling it. We got faith though that something will come sometime.
Spiritual Thought:
Aloha. Aloha always wins, so kill um with Aloha!!! The more we think about it, and let it be engraved in ourselves, the more we can change our beings! Soooo let ALOHA reign continually
E Ola Aloha π€π½
