Rainy Season!!!!

Kaoha nui!!!!

The rain has been pouring and pouring and pouring. It has literally been raining non stop for the past week which has made going out and contacting very fun. Elder Hagen has slipped and insane amount of times which always ends up giving us a good laugh because half the time he ends up super muddy.

One day especially he wanted to take little "shortcuts" in this neighborhood and I would always say "after you" and everytime he would attempt to take the shortcut he would always end up sliding down and all muddy.

It's safe to say many "shortcuts" were attempted by Elder Hagen and none of them were done by me. Lol, maru noa les bros (slowly my boys AKA "BRAH NO NEED RUSH")

Highlights:

- We're getting new tires! No longer will our front to tires be sliding up hills or in mud

- We washed the car because the day was looking pretty nice and then right after it downpours and wouldn't stop the rest of the week. The car quickly got dirty and on Saturday we took it to a members house because he wanted to pressure wash our car. Well... the car stayed clean for a solid five minutes until it got all muddy again.

- Ate snails for the first time, wasn't as bad as I thought it'd be, there's just so little meat, it's pretty much like a snack. After we had a healthy serving of what our French friend said was duck but did not look like the duck that I remember eating in Chinese Restaurants growing up

- Had interviews with our mission president and it was the quickest thing ever, the only little advice he gave me was to savor every moment because my time here will be coming to an end at the end of this third transfer.

- We had a lesson over Facebook messenger with a lady who lives on Ua Huka and the lesson went amazing

- Ate more burritos with Uncle Kevin

- Did a good amount of contacting because the rain had canceled most of our lessons.

- Helped one of our friends to start their family genealogy

- Elder Hagen telling someone that he loved something the guy was talking about and then turning to me after we left and asked what the guy was talking about. And then being like "ohhhhhh". (That one had me laughing)

Lowlights:

- Our washer is still broken... at first we thought it was a problem with the washer being off balanced and then Elder Hagen tried putting two things in, and it would fill up with water, start spinning, then stop. The thing is it wouldn't drain out the water. We would then have to open up this little cap near the bottom to drain out the washer and then scoop the rest of the water out with a cup which was a real hassle/a little gross.

Since it has been raining so much the water coming out of our pipes looks like Willy Wonkas Chocolate Factory. Even with our water filter the water is still a nice dark brown. I'm pretty sure you could make hot cocoa by just heating it up. It might not taste the same but it'll surely look the same.

- Got a call from the primary president saying we couldn't do the baptism at the chapel this upcoming saturday because she already "booked" it. Then got more calls from counselors in the ward saying we needed to move the time to accommodate for the primary after we had already planned everything... All was good after we did some running around and phone tag and finally moved the baptism till 7:30am instead of 9am. LUIAAAAAAA

Spiritual Thought:

In Proverbs 29:23 it says, "A man’s pride shall bring him low: but honour shall uphold the humble in spirit."

In a talk given by Joni L. Koch he said, "When we choose not to be humble, we end up being humiliated".

It is amazing how much we think we know, when in reality we don't know everything and there is always something new we can learn. We can learn from anyone and everyone no matter their age, race, social status, etc. There is always something new that we can learn if we are able to be humble enough to take a step back and listen. In doing so we'll find that there is so much more than you could ever comprehend. At the same time we must not forget to prioritize our time. There is only so much we can do with so little time. There are things that are good, other things that are better and then there are the best things. Seek after the best and I promise you'll find it, and so much more.

Il y a quelque chose que je connais, l'une de ces choses est que "je ne sais pas tout", il y a toujours quelque chose de nouveau que je peux apprendre de quelqu'un d'autre.
