Mario Kart!!!!

Kaoha nui,

This past week felt like Mario Kart because of all of the rain. It has rained pretty much constantly for the past week and because of that the roads have been really junk. There's been boulders that have been displaced to the middle of the road, we've avoided a few landslides while driving, drifted at least ten times this past week while our truck was in 4x4 and filled up so many bottles of water. As far as moving things this past week we've moved a refrigerator in our truck and then we helped move a cement mixer later on in the week.

Highlights:

- We had gotten a call from a number from St. George Utah and when we tried calling back they didn't answer. We thought nothing of it till later on we were at a family home evening and we see a tourist show up. The guy had been driving by and got the impression he needed to stop. He stopped and asked a couple kids were the Mormon church was and the kids said "Well there's some Mormons that live in that house". What are the odds. He had received a feeling from the spirit, he stop, and stumbled upon a big family home evening for the Marquesian people in the branch. He great grandfather served here back in 1900-1903. He shared some stories and encouraged the members to find their lost brothers and sisters. Oh and the coolest thing was he still spoke French even though he served his mission over 50 years ago.

- Went to a birthday party for a Papi who turned 61 and this was the first time he celebrated his birthday and he was so confused what to do, at the same time it was so sweet.

- Filled up bottles about three different times this week and each time our truck was full loaded in the cabin and in the bed.

- Had an amazing lesson with one of our friends and we had the opportunity to translate a video that wasn't in French for him by speaking as we were hearing it. Not gonna lie it was a little difficult because we really had to think about the way we were saying things to make sure that the same emotion was being used.

- We were at a dinner appointment and the Papi picks up the video call and the first thing he says is "How's my little Chinese guy" and Elder Hagen just started laughing and dying.

- Had a lunch appointment and there was a Papi that had just flown in. It's his first time visiting the Marquesian Islands and he thought there wasn't going to be anything. Tahitians love their bread, and the Papi flew up for the week and brought with him ten baguettes. Only to find out that you can get baguettes if you wake up early enough over here as well.

Spiritual Thought:

3 Nephi 14:20 "Therefore, all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them, for this is the law and the prophets."

Charity is the pure love of Christ and by having Charity for our fellow human beings we are able to respect the two grand commandments of God. I have found so much joy serving the people here and although filling up bottles or helping members and friends ds do things isn't your normal missionary work I have really seen how much of a blessing it has been in there lives.
