Back to the roots!!!

Miracles on miracles on miracles this past week is all I can say!

We started off the week by doing a circle island tour with our neighbor and his family. It was pretty sick and we got to see so many cool spots on the island. We saw the desert, a place they like to call "The Grand Canyon" and a whole bunch of small beach communities and even did a few hikes in-between all of the driving. Later on we went over to our neighbors house and made some shoyu hotdogs and they added their own twist which made it pretty killah.

Got up on Tuesday and finally decided we'd wash our car because it was looking really dirty from all the mud and rain. As soon as we finished washing the truck the rain came down and didn't stop for a solid couple days. Our car stayed nice for an hour and they immediately went back to it's normal look pretty fast. We showed up to one of our lessons only to be greeted by an empty house then went to the store and picked up some more Milo and powdered milk because we were all out. Went to visit a few people that were taught in the past but got dropped by other Elders and it turns out they were still interested. We talked to them about the importance of families and how families can be forever.

Wednesday was pretty fun as well. The rain didn't stop coming down and we got a call from one of the members in the ward saying he needed us to help him move some things. No problem we thought, only to show up to his place and see that he wanted us to move his moped. It was a tight squeeze but we made it fit. We were in for a fun ride, more rain, steep roads where only one car can pass, places you need 4x4 to get through and because we had other stops and lessons before hand we were gonna be doing some of it in the dark. Cheeeee sent it and thankfully the moped made it through all the bouncing. Got to their new place which was at a school and helped them clean up and played with their little son for a bit while our member was "pondering about what we should eat". He finally thought of lemon chicken and then turned to me and Elder Lane and was like "I'm going to take a shower and bathe the baby, here's how to do it". We ended up cooking the food he got outta the shower and his wife came back and was so happy when she saw the food. She started eating and was like, "Honey, you did such a great job." He then turns to me and Elder Lane and winks but then quickly said "Nah the Elders cooked, I took a shower". Haha, honesty is the best policy and I gotta agree that Lemon Chicken and rice was killllah.

One of the stops we made was to see a friend that we made who actually makes wooden sculptures and rock sculptures. Elder Lane bought a sculpture then he was like, "So where are you guys from again". We both responded and Papi was like "I've been to Hawaii before, in fact I did a cultural exchange with this school named Kamehameha Schools." My face lit up so quickly I asked him more and he started talking about Hokulea which got me even more excited. We started talking about Polynesian Wayfinding, and the importance of culture / knowing the stories from where you are from and also the importance of keeping the information that you do have so it isn't lost with future generations. Me and Papi were both equally stoked after the conversation

Thursday we did our studies then filled up water for members and I actually remembered to take a picture of what it looks like when we fill up water so see the images below. It's literally just a spiket in a concrete wall. We went to a lesson with one of our friends and at the end of the lesson Elder Lane asked her if she wanted to be baptized and she was quick to say "Yes", saying "I kept hearing a voice in my head saying "Stop waiting, you need to get baptized" ". She wanted to get baptized in a couple days but finally decided six days would be enough time so she'll be getting baptized on Wednesday.

Friday we had a few lessons reschedule as soon as we got there but we also had a few pretty good lessons and even went into some pretty deep topics with one of our friends.

Saturday we did our studies then went to go fill up some water for some members that came back into town but on our way there we ran over something that was on the road and didn't realize we had a flat till we got to the water filling station five minutes later. Actually it was the guy filling water next to us that was like, "Elders your tire". We look down and indeed there was nothing left in the tire due to the weight of the car. No problem we jacked the car then switched that buggah out, filled up water and made it to our lessons. Then went home after we ate some fire homemade passion fruit ice cream with a family for transfer calls. I'll be staying and my comp will be leaving.

Sunday was packed. We walked to church with one of our friends because he doesn't have a car. The bishopric all showed up five minutes before church started but none of them brought bread so church started twenty minutes late. Got to see a couple people from my old ward who were visiting some family here which was nice. Filled up more water for members and friends and went to visit some people and had a couple lessons later on in the day.

Spiritual thought:

3 Nephi 15:9 "Behold, I am the law, and the light. Look unto me, and endure to the end, and ye shall live; for unto him that endureth to the end will I give eternal life."
