Woah Miracles and Trials
Another week full of work, work, and fun!!! It's always a party over here on Nuku Hiva. A lot of service as well as Catholic people with a few Jehovah's Witness' mixed in there. This past week was 4th of July and my comp was a little sad I wasn't as into it as he was. Our conversation quickly transitioned into the overthrow of the Hawaiian Kingdom. He doesn't have an American Flag with him but I know it's flying in his heart. I still think the Hawaiian flag in our house tops it. E ola mau ka lāhui Hawai'i!!!
Highlights:
- Went on a sick hike last monday
-Found a little excavator and had some fun
- We got hotwater back! Called up the property owner because the other Elders were too shame to for the past three months he looked at the water heater sanded down some contact points and we got hot water again.
- Faded Elder Lane up one morning. His hair was getting so long and he was finally like, "Yeah, I think it's finally time". So it was a full send to clean that buggah up
- Picked up a weedwacker from one of our members to use for a service project and that buggah was hanging on by it's last little bit of tape. Literally that thing was repaired so many times. We took it to our friends house tried to start it. Got it start and then the throttle was stuck. Cut the engine tried to restart it and the chord you pull wouldn't go back in. Took apart the weedwacker and was looking like a mechanic undoing the engine while my comp was eating fruit our friend started bringing out. Put the engine back together and everything worked perfectly. Luiaaaaa le miracles.
- Recieved four new friends in one day and we called them up and they ere like yeah we're interested when can you come by. We set up times and one was with this doctor and another doctor also lives in the same area and was like I'm also interested can you guys come by and talk woth me as well sometime. Our prayers are being answered. If you truly search out for work and put in work to try and find people Heavenly Father will bless you.
- Went to visit an inactive mami and right before we were gonna leave she started pulling out a bunch of pearls and was trying to sell a whole bunch to my companion. It was pretty funny seeing him trying to be nice and at the same time say he can't buy her stuff.
- Told a Papi my different ethnicities because he couldn't figure it out and then said "Happy Lunear New Years" in madrain and Papi lost it and kept laughing for a couple minutes.
- Said the word "something" with a Chinese accent during a dinner appointment and they were all amazed and they were like woaaaaah what did you just say. It sounded like " shoum-sching shoum-sching" and I was like bro I just said the english word "something" but with an accent and they still didn't believe me.
- Driving in the rain and there was five brown horses that we could barely see on the road in front of us. I thought it was fove guys tryna stop us at first and was like oh no, we're in trouble. Luckily it was just horses and they got out of the way.
- Saw a guy driving his truck and towing a horse behind him. Went contacting in a little neighborhood and another guy was leaving and was like "I'd love to talk but I need to go pickup my horse". We were walking and 15 minutes later he drives past with his horse tied to his truck slowly trotting along. What a sight, as well as seeing people with a vow or two tied up in their yard.
- A few of our friends we found this week came to church. They are both doctors that live right next to each other and they've been reading the Book of Mormon a lot over the past couple days. Pretty crazy because they did all these things without us saying anything. We were like, "We're here to help people come unto Christ, and if you have any questions PLEASE ASK"
Lowlights:
- I was taking a shower and this centipede crawled up the shower drain. Elder Lane started hearing me shouting in the shower as I was stomping that bad boy and kicked him back down the drain... and then he cane back for round two tried to stop him again and after I was like nope I'm out.
- It has been raining a lot and because of that people cancel lessons or members will be like I can't leave my house because it's raining. No biggie for us we keep going
Spiritual Thought:
Came across this quote while I was reading some talks. "That which we persist in doing becomes easier for us to do; not that the nature of the thing itself changed. But that our power to do is increased". May this quote provide you guys with the power and desire to do better, and be better. To live each day to the fullest and to full send everything. If Can, Can!!! If No Can, Brah you bettah figure out one way because YOU CAN!!!
