KFC in Tahiti?!?!

Image
Yes, I am talking about good old Kentucky Fried Chicken. One of friends just got baptized and one of her sons flies for Air Tahiti Nui and brought back KFC because another Mami at the luncheon really loves KFC. We showed up and they started bringing out the food and I thought I was dreaming for a second. Like there's no way that's actually KFC, the best part was just seeing how excited the Mami was about it. Anyways that was a nice little highlight from the other day. Also just realized I didn't get a picture of it, sorry bout it, but was good. :) Highlights: - Elder Brown made me some special drink for my throat but he didn't have the actual ingredients to make it so he improvised and mixed Water, Hot sauce, Salt, and Honey. He heated that bad boy up and it started frothing and smelt like warm vinegar. It didn't taste the best but wasn't too bad. It also kinda looked like beer.  - We got Facebook back thanks to the amazing work of the Elders in The Office. - We...

Luuuuuuiiia le email list!!!! Ho howzit everybody I hope you guys have been good. I wanted to start of this email with some energy because I just scored a Shell Vaa jersey and I'm psyched outta my mind right now! Highlights:  - We had a BBQ at the beach with our Zone last Monday. Was really nice to have one Paina with everyone before transfers and just be at the beach watch the waves and sunset. - Elder Moriniere (my new companion) arrived from Ahe (a small Tuamotu).  - We tried to visit as much members as possible in between our lessons and were able to make contact with almost all of our recent converts and friends during the first few days that Elder Moriniere got here. - One of our friends passed her baptism interview and will be getting baptized this Sunday morning and we are so excited. We're going on four baptisms now while I've been in the ward. Power!!!! Hopefully we'll see a couple more after this one because we have a few friends who are also ready. - Got two...

Aloha Kakou, Pretty quick email this week because we have a whole lot going on during this P-Day. We are currently trying to cook up 15 lbs of fries for a BBQ. Highlights: - Had another lesson with a family we found a week ago. They mentioned how they have seen a change in their son after he started going to church and taking lessons. The little boy is still very quiet but smiles all the time at church and is very intelligent. - We had Stake Conférence this past weekend and were blessed to hear from some pretty amazing speakers who gave great talks. - Found out transfer news and it turns out my companion will be leaving and I'll be staying. He's going to be headed off to the island of Huahine and I couldn't be more happier because he was dreaming of serving in that zone. - Went to the market to pick up some new pants for Elder Spencer, slippers for Elder Brown and music stuff for Elder Neilson and took a quick stop to check out some pearls. Lowlights: - Invited one of our f...

Self Reliance? C'est quoi ça?

Iaorana is tatou, This week felt very fast but at the same time very jammed packed. Looking back on this week I'm still so surprised at how much we were able to accomplish in such a short time period. Thought I would highlight a few Highs and Lows throughout the week because even though we are missionaries doesn't mean that our lives are perfect. Weekly Highs: - Took a little trip to Point Venus last Monday to check out the lighthouse and boats and views over there. - Elder Spencer took his little magic bullet blender apart rewired it so it would work again and it worked... For one smoothie and then the blender got fried again. - Had a great zone conference where we talked about the importance of being simple but powerful. Sometime missionaries love to go on tangents about things but in reality that's not the most helpful thing to people and sometimes that will just cause even more confusion. The trick is to be simple, concise, powerful and clear.  - We taught the importanc...

May Day is Lei Day...

Aloha Kakahiaka ko'u mau hoa, Hau'oli lā Mei, It's May first and that means Lei Day... well it does if you in Hawaii nei at least. Rock those Aloha shirts and slippers and wear that papale with your Lei. We didn't really have a whole lot out of the ordinary this past week. We had a whole bunch of lessons every day and made sure to do our studies.  Updates/Fun Moments: - I sat down to start my personal study, clicked my G2 pen and the ink exploded. The pen went from full to empty in a second. Thought I got a regular G2 pen but it turned into the new one time use G2 fountain pen. Haha luckily it only got over my paper, desk, hands and not my white shirt. - We finished a lesson with a Papi and he gave us eight packages of oeros and a couple cans of pringles because some had given him a case and he couldn't finish it all. Me and Elder Neilson and the other Elders in the house were so happy. It made our day. - Had a little Kanikapila session at the chapel on Friday night...
