Iaorana et maitai teie mahana toute le monde
Highlights:
We finally got hot water at the beginning of this week which was so nice. We've been taking these cold showers for the past three months and then the plumber comes over and boom we had hot water in less then an hour. Biking in the rain and wind has never been so fun because now we can just hop into the shower and heat up at the end of the day. Maruuru Te Atua.
We trapped him in this bookcase, grabbed a garbage bag, moved the bookcase around a little bit and the mouse ran right into the bag. Took him outside and I was just like, "We're filling this bag and drowning him. So he doesn't come back to life." Filled the bag with water and the little guy swam his life away. Looked over and saw my companion was just shocked. To which I responded, "Welcome to Bora Bora Elder, we've been trying to get this guy for awhile now."
The next day we saw another mouse, trapped him in the same bookcase and got him as well. Then a third mouse came we trapped him under the stove I shined a light at his face and he darted at me. Haha, I've never jumped off the ground so fast before.
We were in a trio for a bit because Elder Stewart's companion missed his flight from Utah to Tahiti and the biking was killer. Our sector itself is 6 miles long and his sector is 5 miles so biking back and forth between the two sectors to get to lessons was a nice workout, especially with all the wind and rain we've been having.
An Experience with Faith:
We were finished with a lesson and was heading to another place with a member when his car wouldn't start. We were at the top of this hill and there was a long road in back of us. The member puts his car into reverse and we were all yelling out the windows for the kids playing soccer in the streets to move out of the way. Riding the brakes down, I looked over and my companion was in shock once again. I looked away and then turned back and said, "Elder, ready to put your faith into practice?" We got to the bottom of the hill, and his car started back up fine again and got to our next lesson just a little bit late.
Spiritual Thought:
In Psalm 118:8 it reads, "It is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in man."
Putting your trust in God is not just an option, but it is THE option to do. Putting your trust in God by letting him prevail in your life is a win win situation. You have the opportunity to receive countless blessing and miracles and allow him to work through you.
This past week we taught a man who has been sailing for years on a small sailboat by himself. His boat is his home and all he has. He has been stuck in port for awhile because of repairs and feels like life is just too hard. We shared how while in port he's able to really take a look at his boat and find out other things that he might be wrong and things he might've not thought about while sailing the days and night away.
Sometimes our sailboats are also stuck in port. We are constantly doing repairs but feel like there is always something else wrong. Fix what you see, and sail onward knowing that you will make it to the next port.
