Wind, Rain, and Stomach Problems
It's beginning to sound a lot like Christmas... Not so much in the music. But I did hear someone blowing some fireworks last night and it reminded me of all the illegal aerials that ring in the New Year in Hawaii.
This past week has had it's ups and downs. Started of the week learning how to fire knife dance by Sister Tippets who just arrived in Bora this transfer. Taught some more kids, a couple new faces and some more familiar ones. Now that I brought out the GoPro they never let us leave without a picture. There was this big Bora Bora craft fair with some vendors that even flew in from other islands to participate. A lot of good food, nice crafts and good music too. We had a few of our lessons at the craft fair because the main person running it was a member and our friends wanted to check it out. I scored a sick Christmas ornament and even got a hat for free from someone who saw me checking it out. Now I can hang out with all the Papi's and fit right in.
We flew out to Raiatea on Friday afternoon and spent the night with some sick Elders and got to go to their ward Christmas party. Had Zone Conference on Saturday and met our new mission president who is super cool, young, and smart. He has his Bachelors and Masters degrees and speaks perfect English along with his wife which is a huge blessing to me as well other missionaries.
I gave a nice short training at Zone conference on mission rules, the best part is once I got up there I couldn't even read my own handwriting. From being sick and fighting fatigue I tried my best to write the training the night before. I thought it looked fine at the time but not even awake Elder Ellis could read it so it was moment of improvising.
A thought that our president wife shared that I really liked was, "Your situation doesn't define your happiness, Your outlook on the situation is what defines it". That and remembering to practice patience in all aspects and with all the people in your life. Practicing those two things can make a huge impact in your life.
"Vents favorables et mer suivante"
"Mata'i haumaru e moana mania"
"Fair winds and following seas"
Standing by,
Elder Ellis
