Elder Kala Ellis

After serving the people of French Polynesia Elder Ellis returned home to Hawaii on Wednesday, July 10, 2024. He was honorably release that at 5pm and then went to the beach with his family.  Mahalo for all your support... Iaorana, Writing this last email is giving me chicken skin. It's true when people say that even though missions seem like a long time it passes by in the blink of an eye. I am truly grateful for my mission experience and for all the people I was able to work with and learn from. We truly are called not to a place but rather the people living there. Although I served in some beautiful places it was always the aloha in the hearts of the people that made everything worth it.  This past week was filled with a lot of adventures. We were the logistics and support team for the office and housing people helping them do whatever they needed to get done. We went and picked up dryers as well as supplies for missionaries and even went to other sectors to get things in order before the transfers came. I learned a little bit more about the logistics behind the mission and how everyones skills work together to help the work of the Lord move forward.  I bear my testimony that God lives and lo...

Aloha mai!!!! We had an amazing week filled with with a whole bunch of little miracles. We ate a whole bunch of good food and we also had our zone conference and stake conference. We also had a little goodbye party since Elder Masaniai and I are leaving Hao 🤙🏽 Highlights: - We ate dog and it was amazing!!!! We were sitting in sacrament and the papie was just like, "I got it". He wasn't lying, and we pulled up to their big family gathering and there was a huge pot of dog. The buggah tasted like beef. You could definitely make one mayjah beef broccoli but switch the beef out for dog and add a side of hot rice. Of course we had fish, cake, chicken and steak, along with pizza to accompany the dog. That morning the papie also had us over for breakfast and we ate the biggest fishes ever for breakfast and it absolutely filled us up. - We taught the young women in the ward some Hawaiian introduction, little phrases as well as the part of the body doing head shoulders knees and ...

Alohaaaaa!!! We had a pretty great week filled with work, lessons, service and sickness. Most importantly we enjoyed every minute of it 🤙🏽. We even had some pretty funny moments during our dinner appointments. Oh and Heitearii from my old sector on Moorea got baptized!!!!  Highlights:  - Started off the week doing a fire role-play in our district council. I was happily the friend and had a little fun by telling the other missionary they could come to my church instead of going to theirs and also that I already had a Bible so I didn't need another one. A very common occurence here iin French Polynesia. - Woke up at 4:30am because I thought we were getting wet. It turns out we were actually getting wet. It sounded like there was a hurricane outside and our windows were open to let the cool breeze in but it ended up soaking our entire bathroom from the ceiling to floors as well as part of the floor in our living space.
