Elder Cool? Cool?!!?!

Image
This past week was pretty legendary. We ended up meeting a whole bunch of cool people while we were on Ua Huka for a little bit and then we got to take a plane ride back to Nuku Hiva. The plane was sick, it was super small and everything had to get weighed from our check in bag to our carry on and even ourselves. Definitely something that doesn't always happen on plane rides. The pilot of the plane was also super cool. He circled Ua Huka twice and then circled Nuku Hiva before we landed. After we landed we got back into the groove of things on Nuku Hiva and had our work cut out for us. Luckily the members here are amazing and picked up packages for us that were on the last boat. It was like coming back to Christmas, a new washer, a water filter, a case of book of Mormons, and some five gallon jugs of water!!!! We were truly blessed. Highlights: - Toured a Pakalolo farm deep in the mountains on Ua Huka - Had an amazing lesson with one of our friends on Ua Huka - We all ate a whole b...

Island Hoping

Image
Aloha ko'u 'ohana e ko'u mau hoa, Cheeeee pas dormi cette semaine, (no sleep this week) aka this past week was jam packed.  We started off the week by taking our truck into the shop to get new tires put on. Then we spent the rest of our p-day taking a little road trip around the island hitting all the different spots since we now had some good traction. Had some good lessons and invited our friends to do somethings that would help them grow their faith while we'll be gone. It's been a pretty eventful week and we've been able to do so much in such a short amount of time. From boating, to service, to cutting coconuts, leading lessons and everything in between. We've had a lot of great experience with the members especially Papi Hoka (more stories below about him) Highlights: - Had zone conference (wooohhhhhooo) almost 5 hours on a zoom call. Me and Elder Hagen did a little role play, we didn't really know what we needed to do though because the APs (Assist...

Stand by, to Stand by... Okay..... Standing by........

Image
Woah, if this past week could be summarized into a sentence it would be the subject line of this email or "stand by, to stand by.... okay...... standing by..." because that is how it pretty much felt like this past week. We had so many things going on and we were trying to do and plan so much all at the same time. We had a baptism and people saying they couldn't make it to give talks anymore or their replacements saying they didn't want to give the talk anymore but they would still come to show support. After that, we got approval to go to another island on a fishing vessel. We're still waiting to see if the mission is going to get us plane tickets back which I hope they do because planes only fly out once a week sooooo if we don't make it off the island we're staying another week on that island but that's fine with me because transfer are in two weeks so being on another island in the Marquesis isn't the worst thing. We also don't have any tra...

Rainy Season!!!!

Image
Kaoha nui!!!! The rain has been pouring and pouring and pouring. It has literally been raining non stop for the past week which has made going out and contacting very fun. Elder Hagen has slipped and insane amount of times which always ends up giving us a good laugh because half the time he ends up super muddy.  One day especially he wanted to take little "shortcuts" in this neighborhood and I would always say "after you" and everytime he would attempt to take the shortcut he would always end up sliding down and all muddy.  It's safe to say many "shortcuts" were attempted by Elder Hagen and none of them were done by me. Lol, maru noa les bros (slowly my boys AKA "BRAH NO NEED RUSH")  Highlights: - We're getting new tires! No longer will our front to tires be sliding up hills or in mud - We washed the car because the day was looking pretty nice and then right after it downpours and wouldn't stop the rest of the week. The car quickly go...

Miracles

Kaoha Nui ia kakou, Highlights: - Went hiking last p-day down to Anaho. It was actually the third time we did it in a week and me and Elder Hagen were kinda over it but our neighbor was hyped so we were hyped as well. We get down there and then he's just like Elders let's hike to the village right over. We walked another hour and a half to the village right over along this desertish plane and when we arrived the beach was beautiful. Sand like Hawaii, Portuguese Man-O Wars filled the beach an amazing beach break with constant waves and some barrels as well. I was in awe at such perfection that very few people get a chance to see. - On our way back my sandals kept feeling a little looser and looser until finally it felt like I wasn't even wearing my sandals. Not to my surprise the Keens finally broke. Nuku Hiva has been really harsh on shoes and sandals and walking back on that hot sand was the final straw that eventually melted the glue between the sole and footbed causing t...
