Howzit toute le monde, Wait did you think the funerals were over?!?! We had another funeral last week monday in the evening and then three more on Tuesday,  Wednesday and then Thursday. We started joking around when we answered the phone and started saying sorry this isn't the Elders it's the Taharaa Funeral Services. It kind of drains you to plan out funerals and do everything but it's nice to see the familles have a little peace of mind.  Had a lesson with the Kanaka Maoli Hawaiian Activist guy again. It was pretty fun we started talking about being connected to your land and culture and then my companion was like what is going on. The guy started talking about planting your placenta/piko with a tree and I was oh yeah we do that same thing in Hawaii. We got in the car I turned to my companion and was like, "So where's your Piko?" To which he responded "I don't know, probably in a landfill honestly.", sad life... Had a lesson with an older Mami,...

The Importance of Family

Iaorana I teie poipoi ia tatou, Anotha week anotha dollah... We've had a whole bunch of miracles and experiences happen this past week and it's crazy to think that so much can be packed into such a short amount of time. We started off the week having a family home evening with a family in our ward. We extended an invitation for the husband to get baptized and he said YES!!! My companion has been really sick this past week and has spent most of his study times sleeping...I mean really pondering the gospel while letting his eyes rest. Well while he was in deep thought both physically and spiritually I was just in deep thought spiritually. Thinking about the love our Heavenly Father has for each of us and how incredible it is that he knows each of us individually. We had a third lesson with a friend we just started teaching the other week. During the first lesson the spirit was jumping off the walls and we invited her to think about a date for baptism. During our second lesson she...

Iaorana i teie mahana to'u mau hoa!!! Tchuru, Maitaix?!?!?! The Week: Started off our week with our favorite thing to do... Contacting!!! Actually we started off by going to someone's house but when we arrived there wasn't anyone there so we ended up going back to our place to get our studies done and then went out to do contacting in this one street that goes up into the mountain. Happy to say that we hit every single house in that quartier even if it took us four hours. We met members, ate crepes with a friend we just met, I caught a baby chick, and we ended up getting a whole bunch of limes/avocado's/mangoes and other things from a lady. We had more lessons later on in the week and some of them were even new friends. We were crazy blessed the other Sunday because members had there friends at church and were like hey Elder Ma these are my friends and they're interested in the church. One of the members was our mission presidents father and when we had a lesson wit...

Contacting!!!!

Iaorana ia tatou, This week has been filled with a whole lot of contacting where we basically go from door to door and talk to people and see if there interested in learning about the gospel of Jesus Christ. One of the first people we taught this past week was a guy who is all for the decolinization of Hawaii and Tahiti. It was really fun and interesting to talk to him but also hard to get a word in. Later that day we taught a lady and talked with her husband who's was good friends with people in Hawaii like Israel Kamakawiwaole, Willie K, Ben Aipa, and Akila Aipa. They gave us some honey that they just harvested and it was amazing and nice because honey is really expensive here. We started talking about surfing and shaping and he mentioned how his brother that lives near him shapes surfboards. Who knows, I might come back with a surfboard or I might even shape a surfboard on my mission. Never would've thought something like that would happen. At the end of a dinner appointment...
