Last complete district photo Last Saturday was a bittersweet symphony to say the least. We sang "God Be With You Till We Meet Again" not once but twice as we were finishing up our last French classes and the Barbados Elders in our district were getting ready to head off into the field. Sad that our time devoted to learning French is gone but now we are off in a room just down the hall to start learning Tahitian. A mission is a mission no matter what you are doing or who you are serving. We were fortunate enough to watch some videos in French of missionaries who had to switch from prosolating missions to service missions because of various health problems. As we were practicing as a choir, our director shared the same kind of message. He said that when he was in a meeting with the president of the church and some of his counselors they mentioned how all missionaries are the same in their eyes and in the eyes of the Lord. As we were singing and practicing for general conferen...

Attitude of Gratitude

Iorana, Iorana, Iorana, E!!!! It still feels like I'm time traveling through days. Days are long and packed but the week continues to fly by in a blink of an eye. Some key highlights from this past week include pilling our entire district into one persons room to watch Johnny Lingo from a little phone, and scoring an entire bottle of Tea Tree shampoo from an elder who was leaving to Spain. These small little things brought a grand amount of joy. Oh, earlier this week me and a couple other Elders in my district found out that we were selected to be apart of the choir singing for general conference. Super exciting, but also super scary at the same time. It is like singing for Kamehameha Schools song contest except we are memorizing 5 different songs in a week and a half and are going to be performing live for over 5 million people. It'll take a miracle and a lot of prayer for us to memorize everything in time but we all know it will happen.  Devotional: This week's devotiona...

Iorana! Packages from the family Where'd all the time go? It is crazy to think that this week has just flown by within a blink of an eye. Listening to the spirit: Getting a little colder One of the biggest teachers that has allowed me to progress while here in the MTC is not a physical teacher but rather the Holy Ghost and the promptings that it provides. Every time I pray I seek to have the Holy Ghost as a constant companion. As I stay in tune with the spirit, thoughts, impressions, and scriptures always pop into my head. An experience we had with the spirit was during one of our teaching appointments. Me and my companion had everything planned out. Who was going to talk when, the key points we were going to cover and everything in between. During our lesson I had a feeling that we needed to talk about the importance of families even though we planned to talk about prayers. At the same time my companion also had that same feeling so he started to shift our conversation from how to...

Week 4ish... Bonjour! 28 Days of being a missionary, and I can't believe how fast it has been flying by! A little recap of the first month, we had two and a half-ish weeks of full online zoom classes and they weren't that bad. I was able to virtually meet and get to know my district and we all instantly clicked with one another. The only part that wasn't too fun about online mtc was the time zone difference. Since I was in Hawaii and everyone else was in Utah I was waking up at 4am while everyone was chilling at 8am. But preparation days at home had to be one of the highlights. Me and my mom were able to go get lunch together, go on hikes that allowed me to check out the surf and even head to Point Panics to see the last little bit of the swell that came right before I left.  Highlights from the mtc so far: 1. Getting to the MTC: Checking in to the mtc felt like getting dropped off at Cal Maritime. There were a bunch of people there to help you with your stuff and one secon...
